Secure Your Tickets for Opening Weekend:
If you haven't already secured your ticket for the opening weekend of "Deadpool & Wolverine," act now because seats are selling out fast! We haven't seen a movie sell out like this for an opening weekend this early since "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
AMC Theatres chief Adam Aron has something to cheer about. Last month, Aron announced that the Ryan Reynolds-Hugh Jackman starrer "Deadpool & Wolverine" has set a new record for first-day advance ticket sales for the country’s largest movie circuits. Tickets went on sale month for the Marvel Studios sequel, which officially opens in North America on July 26, with previews on the evening of July 25.
“Some 200,000 movie fans have bought their AMC tickets already. This is more Day 1 ticket sales at AMC than for any other R-rated movie ever,” Aron wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Online ticketing service Fandango, which services a majority of movie circuits, also reported brisk first-day sales for "Deadpool & Wolverine," saying they were the best of 2024 to date, as well as a franchise best and the best for an R-rated feature. Insiders estimate that first-day sales likely range from $8 million to $9 million based on the 200,000 tickets sold.
This unprecedented demand indicates that "Deadpool & Wolverine" could cross $100 million in its debut, a feat no 2024 title has yet achieved. The domestic box office revenue has slipped 20 percent behind 2023 due to production delays tied to strikes, with the industry mantra becoming “survive to 25.” The movie is also projected to possibly hit the $1 Billion mark according to insiders.
2016’s "Deadpool" and 2018’s "Deadpool 2" topped the list of biggest R-rated openers at $132.4 million and $125 million, respectively, not adjusted for inflation.
Directed by Shawn Levy, "Deadpool & Wolverine" continues the irreverent superhero franchise that’s the brainchild of Reynolds, who persuaded Jackman to don the Wolverine costume once again for the threequel. This film marks the first R-rated movie ever released by Marvel and Disney, making it a landmark event for fans.
Another item that looks to sell out is the new popcorn bucket. Ryan Reynolds revealed the new popcorn bucket created for “Deadpool & Wolverine” on social media last month, and the video is just as hilariously inappropriate as you’d expect from the R-rated superhero.
Inspired by the viral “Dune 2” popcorn bucket, the “Deadpool & Wolverine” version is a fun and quirky tribute to Wolverine. This unique receptacle is modeled after Wolverine’s head, featuring a comically oversized mouth perfect for filling with popcorn (or any movie snack of your choice). The video unveiling this collectible is set to the epic tune “Also Sprach Zarathustra” from “2001: A Space Odyssey,” adding a dramatic flair to the humorous reveal.
Don’t miss out on this historic opening weekend! Get your tickets now and be part of the excitement as "Deadpool & Wolverine" sets new box office records.
