NEW IMAGE RELEASED FOR TRON 3: ARES

Tron 3: Ares - Filming Begins with Jared Leto Taking the Lead

After years of anticipation and development hurdles, Tron 3, titled "Tron: Ares," has officially kicked off its production. Director Joachim Rønning recently confirmed the commencement of filming by sharing a behind-the-scenes image. While the photo provides only a glimpse of a director's chair adorned with the iconic Tron logo, it's enough to stoke the excitement of fans. Jared Leto, known for his role in Morbius, is set to star as Ares in this highly awaited Disney sequel.

The cast is stacked with notable names, including Evan Peters from WandaVision, Greta Lee from Past Lives, Jodie Turner-Smith from Queen & Slim, Cameron Monaghan from Jedi: Fallen Order, and Sarah Desjardins from Yellowjackets.

Tron 3's journey began back in October 2010, but the project faced a series of setbacks, leading to its cancellation by Disney in 2015. However, in 2017, the film resurfaced as a reboot featuring Jared Leto. The production faced its fair share of starts and stops, with various directors attached to the project. Last year, filming was briefly halted due to strikes by the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG). Nevertheless, the wheels are now in motion, and Tron: Ares is officially in the works.

Details about the plot of the third installment are still scarce, but The Hollywood Reporter has shared some preliminary information. The storyline is expected to revolve around a sentient program that infiltrates the human world prematurely. Jared Leto's character, Ares, is portrayed as a manifestation of this program, adding an intriguing layer to the narrative.
Tron, the original film, debuted in 1982 with Jeff Bridges in the lead role of Kevin Flynn, a video game designer trapped inside his own creation. The 2010 sequel, "Tron: Legacy," shifted the focus to Garrett Hedlund as Flynn's son, who embarks on a journey into 'the grid' after receiving a message from his long-lost father.

Disney's commitment to the Tron franchise is evident not only in the upcoming movie but also in the significant investment made in a new Tron-themed ride at Disney World. The studio's dedication to expanding the Tron universe is further emphasized by the initiation of filming for Tron 3.

As the production progresses, fans can eagerly anticipate the next chapter in the Tron saga, with Jared Leto leading the charge into the digital frontier. Stay tuned for more updates on Tron: Ares as it continues to evolve.
