Is this the worse video game movie of all time?
The original Mario Brothers movie was released on May 28, 1993 and is a perfect example of how not to make a movie. It's got everything: bad acting, terrible writing, and even worse CGI.
First of all, it's important to understand that the Mario Brothers movie was made with an eye towards the children's market. The series had been a big hit on the Nintendo Entertainment System and the Super Nintendo Entertainment System; now they were going to make their first big move into films.
The movie is about two plumbers who go on an adventure to take on from King Koopa (AKA Bowser). The two plumbers are recognizably of course named Mario and Luigi. While they are fighting King Koopa, they meet a girl named Princess Daisy who joins them on their quest to save the world from King Koopa and his minions.
In the movie, there are many problems with both the story and the characters themselves.
1. The script was bad. They tried to make the movie into a serious action-adventure film, but they didn't take into account what made the games so fun: their campiness and lightheartedness.
2. The plot is completely ridiculous. Enough said.
3. They tried to include all of the elements from each level of Super Mario Bros., except it didn't carry over correctly to the big screen.
The original Mario Brothers movie was not well received by critics and audiences alike during it's release. It was derided for its poor acting, writing, and special effects. People who watched the movie felt that it was a low-quality adaptation of the video game series that had already been popular for over 10 years at that point.
In fact, when comparing the movie to the game series, many people thought that it was even worse than other games based on movies. The original Mario Brothers movie has since become something of an urban legend cult classic among gamers because of how bad it is! Many people have joked about how much better a sequel would be if it were made today with modern technology and a bigger budget.
This is especially true since Nintendo has released so many new versions of their most popular characters over the past few years such as Bowser Jr., Tanooki Mario/Luigi/Peach/Yoshi and more!
Overall this movie is so bad, you have to watch it atleast once to appreciate how horrible it actually is. Hopefully the new movie being released on April 7 2023 will be a little more entertaining!
