Happy Ghostbusters Day to all! With today's celebrations comes some awesome announcements for Ghostbusters fans, and one major one comes from an exclusive announcement from Variety.
A new "Ghostbusters" animated series will be coming soon, and is being developed for Netflix. With Sony Pictures Animation helming this project, along with Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan of Ghost Corps, Inc. as executive producers this is sure to be a great new addition to the franchise. The last installment of the Ghostbusters movies was co-written by both Reitman and Kenan, as well as Reitman directing the film as well.
This will be the third animated series in the franchise's history. The first being the "The Real Ghostbusters" which was aired on ABC from 1986-1991 for 140 episodes, then the second animated series was "Extreme Ghostbusters" which only lasted for 40 episodes.
There are no known details about this newest series, with the plot being unknown, and no writers being attached to the project at the moment. What is known is that the series will be produced through Netflix and Ghost Corps, Inc. which is a part of Sony's Columbia Pictures.
