New Batman, Ghostbusters and Venom Movies Announced!

While CinemaCon 2022 is still in full effect, we have gotten some MAJOR announcements! Even though details have been scarce, Sony has officially announced several sequels. Both the next installments of Venom, and Ghostbusters were shared with attendees of the con. They gave us no release dates, but they were confirmed in a sizzle reel, as well as some short seconds of the upcoming Kraven the Hunter film.

Ghostbusters will be following the events of the last movie Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and Venom will pick up after the story of Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The news of the sequels has many fans (including myself) very excited, especially with the upcoming Ghostbusters video game Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed being announced recently as well.

These weren't the only announcements that Sony made, but they definitely were the biggest. Other announcements included a Spider-Man spinoff El Muerto starring Latin artist Bad Bunny, and news about the next installments of the Into The Spider-Verse movies.

The next movie being Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse which is set to now release (ugh, yes it's been pushed back) on June 2, 2023 from its original release date of October 7, 2022. With 240 characters appearing in the movie, 6 universes to explore, and the largest crew for an animation film ever, Sony was not done giving us what we wanted. They showed the first 15 minutes of the film before announcing the name of the third Spider-Verse film, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, set to release March 29, 2024.

Sony though, wasn't the only ones making big announcements, as Warner Brothers followed up with a BIG one.  With Matt Reeves' The Batman now streaming on HBO Max, and two series being created for the streaming platform, one following Colin Farrell's portrayal of the Penguin, and the other of Jeffrey Wright's James Gordon, there has been much talk of a follow up to the newly released movie. It seems like the talk wasn't cheap, because The Batman 2 has officially been announced.  With no real details being given, we can only wait for more news as it happens.
