Collecting on a Budget: 5 Affordable Options

Being a collector there's always so many amazing new pieces being released by companies on any given day. With higher end companies like Hot Toys, Sideshow, and Prime1 Studios producing some of the best quality items available for collectors, not all collectors can afford these, and definitely not the average joe. So who makes great quality pieces, at an affordable price? Here's 5 affordable options for the average collector!

1. Hasbro's Marvel Legends - Average MSRP $22.99

Hasbro's Marvel Legends line has become even more popular these past years with the huge impact of the MCU. With characters being released from comics, to movies, to new Disney+ series, these action figures seem to have a character for everyone. The selection of figures continues to grow, with new waves being released every few weeks. An interesting selling point of these figures is something called, "Build A Figure" and it's exactly what it sounds like. When you buy a figure in the wave it comes with one piece of a special character that can be put together once you've collected all the required pieces. For example in the 2020 Avengers Gameverse wave, the special figure you could create, was the Abomination. So if you are a Marvel fan, and looking for great looking and affordable figures, Hasbro's Marvel Legends line is a great choice.

2. McFarlane's DC Multiverse - Average MSRP $19.99 - $29.99

For all you DC fans, McFarlane's DC Multiverse are the figures for you. With figures ranging from all DC's comics, movies, and animated films, there are endless choices for DC fans. These 7' figures are highly detailed, and look great out of box, and even in box with a large front window showing off these amazing characters. McFarlane gives great quality for a great price, and is always giving DC fans what they want, with new figures being announced weekly. Availability of these range from Amazon to both instore and online retailers like Gamestop, Walmart, and Target.

3. Bandai Namco & Banpresto - Average MSRP $24.99 to $39.99

Now for all my fellow Anime fans out there, Bandai Namco and Banpresto have to be the best bang for your buck. With Banpresto being apart of the Namco company, anime fans have been given so many great statues for any type of budget. Both companies having some amazing statues for a lower price range consisting of a simple yet well posed character, to a higher priced, usually around $80, more detailed and larger statues. The range and variety of characters from different animes is truly amazing. With new waves of statues being released monthly, the statues to choose from seem to be never ending. I myself have over 20 statues from these two companies, consisting of my favorite characters, even multiples of one character, all because of the affordability and high quality they offer. You can find these available both online and instore at multiple retailers, including Walmart, Target, Hot Topic and BoxLunch, as well as streaming sites like Funimation and Crunchyroll.

4. Mezco - Average MSRP $80 - $120

Looking for a figure that was meant to be displayed and posed, but can't afford an expensive Hot Toy sixth scale figure, well Mezco has got an answer for that. A little more money previous options on this list, but well worth it. Mezco's One:12 Collective gives you options like a higher end figure, just at a smaller scale. With variety of figures ranging from Marvel to horror, there's a little bit of everything for everyone. These 1:12 scale figures come with so much, that there's never just one way to display them. With accessories like different weapons, clothing, even different hand and head molds, the combinations are never ending. Built for posing, these figures have over 30 different articulation points giving you endless possibilities of how you want to display them. Handpainted the quality on these will not disappoint, you will be glad you have one in your collection.

5. Diamond Select - Average MSRP $44.99 - $49.99

Last on the list are gallery dioramas from Diamond Select Toys. These pieces are truly amazing for the price. With well posed characters ranging from classic Marve, DC, video games, and Star Wars, these are a must have for collectors. Standing at about a foot tall these can be displayed alone, or with others from the series. Durable, affordable, these PVC dioramas can be a great addition to anyone's collection. You can find these on Diamond Selects website, as well as Walmart, Amazon, Gamestop and ShopDisney, as well as a few other online distributors.
