New Ninja Turtles Toy Fair Releases 2022

Toy Fair 2022 came and went over this past weekend and gave us Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fans a bold warning. Our wallets are far from safe. What was originally planned to take place in New York City, Toy Fair took place as an online event only due to Covid restrictions. But on the TMNT front, that didn't stop toy companies like Neca and Playmates from dropping straight heat all weekend. Even to everyones surprise, Mezco finally announced that they too, would be adding themselves to the mix of TMNT figures.

Playmates announced first that they would be doing their version of the hit comic book, The Last Ronin. The comic book that tells the story of the lone surviving turtle, that takes place in a future, battle ravaged New York City controlled by the Foot Clan. This will be a Previews Exclusive and will also feature a black and white, cell shaded chase variant. But shortly after that, Neca announced their own version. They revealed two variants of their version of TLR Based on the history of disappointment from Playmates, I'm going with Neca on this one.

Neca was definitely the busiest throughout the weekend though. The 1991 movie, TMNT 2: The Secret Of The Ooze finally received some attention with the turtles 4-pack that will come in a special edition, throwback VHS style box. Also, an accessory set and a long awaited rerelease of the Tokar and Rahzar 2-pack. All will be coming to the TheNecaStore.com for a 2 week preorder window on March 22nd. The TMNT crossover line with The Universal Monsters also received a new edition with Mikey The Mummy.

The biggest surprise of Toy Fair was Mezco, finally adding the TMNT to their One:12 collection. In keeping with their tradition, these TMNT look like their own unique rendition. They look similar to the Mirage comics in design but also feature the color coded bandanas that the four brothers wear in other versions. These figures look like they have seamless design for a ultra realistic feel that you just do not get with other toy companies.

This past weekend got my excitement and my anxiety going with all the amazing reveals that we have to forward to later this year. It's definitely an exciting time to be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle collector. My bank account may not agree, but my feelings of nostalgia don't have a price tag on them.
