Nerdthusiast: Spring 2022 Jordan Release Sneaker Preview
The Spring 2022 Jordan release preview is here and it has
something for everyone. Nerdthusiast broke down the 12 releases from the
announcement and give my personal thoughts.
Above Average: Jordan 12 "Playoff", Jordan 3
"Canvas", Jordan 4 W "Canvas", Jordan 4
"Infrared"
Average: Jordan 1 High "Dark Marina Blue", Jordan
1 High "Brotherhood", Jordan 5 "Racer Blue", Jordan 6
"UNC", Jordan 3 "Cardinal", Jordan 4 "Amethyst
Wave", Jordan 6 W "Mint Foam"
There are some solid options in this section. Depending on your personal preference and what your closet is missing, I concede that some sneakers here may be rated higher. For example, the Cardinal 3s will be seen the day after release by everyone at your local mall and they are a great piece for any collection. My main reason for placing things in this category is simple; These releases are nice, but nothing I really need at the moment. If you are someone that needs a blue Jordan 1 or a Blue Jordan 5, then these are the kinds of releases for you. You can get a basic color on a great silhouette that can be a mainstay in your rotation.
Below Average: Jordan 5 Low "Artic Pink", Jordan 7
SE "Sapphire", Jordan 9 "University Red", Jordan 13
"Del Sol"
This section combines my least favorite models with some
pretty uninteresting colorways. I honestly don't know what colorway they could
put on a 5 low or a 7 to get me interested. They always seem to end up on
clearance at the mall so it seems others share that opinion. The colorways
featured on the Jordan 9 and Jordan 13 aren't the worst, but just don't really
do anything to the shoe. You could argue that slapping a neutral palette on a
more popular model is the same low level of effort. I see general release shoes
serving the purpose of the average consumer filling a hole they have in their
closet. This can either be a more neutral shoe to wear with multiple outfits or
a new color they were missing and want to match. I don't see a world where
people want these colorways for either reason.
