Was Ghostbusters 2 canon?

After all is said and done, many Ghostbusters fans have been asking, Is Ghostbusters 2 canon in the GB Universe. Director Jason Reitman made it very clear in interviews that they are connected. 

"I wish I could talk to you about [Egon deciding to repaint the Ghostbusters II logo on the Ecto-1.]... I’m just saying that’s a plot that is not in this film and we have ideas moving forward... Ghostbusters II, definitely canon. 

Nerdthusiast has uncovered three easter eggs that directly connect GB 2 to Afterlife. The first one is the most obvious but also the most important. 

1.)  RAYS OCCULT

"There are references to Ghostbusters II in Afterlife. We meet Ray working at Ray’s Occult," Reitman says.

When Phoebe calls from jail, Stantz answers the phone and it takes place in Ray's Occult. This location was first brought to light in Ghostbusters 2. 

2.) STRAIGHTENED SLINKY

 In "Ghostbusters II,"  there is a scene in Oscar's bedroom that Egon says when he was a kid he had a slinky, but he straightened it. 

According to the director, in Afterlife on Phoebe's opening scene on her nightstand is a straightened Slinky toy. 

3.) GB 2 TOASTER

Who doesn't love a dancing toaster?

In an interview with Reitman he said, "The toaster from Ghostbusters II is in the kitchen in the farmhouse. There’s actually lots of lost Ghostbusters II details but nobody knows Ghostbusters II outside of Vigo the Carpathian and the Ghostbusters II logo. So there’s this assumption that it is not canon but it is definitely canon."

Overall there was no mention of the super villian Vigo from Ghostbusters 2 but that doesn't rule him out for future appearances according to Jason Reitman.

"There is a lot of time and opportunity for Vigo The Carpathian to make his return. Look, are you saying that's the only painting of Vigo The Carpathian? Maybe, he's riding a horse in another one, maybe, impaling someone in another one," Reitman teased.

UPDATE :

It has been discovered by a Reddit user that the Giga Meter from GB2 has been discovered in Egon's underground lab in Afterlife.
