Worth Your Watch

3 Must Watch TV Shows Airing Now

#3 Dexter: New Blood - Dexter returns after an 8 year hiatus which initially was meant to end the series. Showtime has decided to bring back everyone's favorite serial killer who lives by a code of conduct where he only kills "bad" people (like other killers for example).

Now, for those of you who have not watched the original series of Dexter, I would strongly advise you go back and watch those first. If you do not watch the first series you will not understand much of which is happening in the new show. This season, though familiar, manages to have contrasts from the original giving it a unique feel. This is the Dexter you remember, but different which will likely prove a good thing when reviving a dormant series. Dexter is worth your watch because more often then not you will find yourself rooting for him ... a serial killer which is a strange feeling to have. Dexter: New Blood airs Sundays at 9PM EST on Showtime or is streaming on  the Showtime App.

#2 It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - What can I say that has not been said about this show already? Always Sunny is the longest running live-action comedy series in American television history for a reason. This show is worth your watch because it is one of the funniest shows on television and has been since it premiered in 2005. What really makes this show special is it's cast of characters and it is not only the main four which make up "the Gang". I am also talking about all the side characters too like the entire McPoyle family (a bunch of truly terrifying weirdos). It's Always Sunny feels like you are on some sick, strange ride, but you will be smiling and laughing the entire time at the insanity that surrounds you. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's 15th season is airing on FXX Wednesdays starting at 10PM or it can be streamed on Hulu.

#1 Yellowjackets - This is a brand new series that just started on Showtime and has all the potential to be something truly special. With strong writing, solid characters and quality acting by a copious team of actors and actresses, Yellowjackets has me completely engaged with only 4 episodes in. Clearly something worth your watch. The main story takes place in the mid 1990's and is filled with all sorts of nostalgic content from that period of time, most notably the music selection. The plot consists of a high school girls soccer team in the mid 90's flying to compete in nationals after becoming state champions. The plane goes down and the kids are surviving on their own in the wilderness. Time jumps occur frequently, but it is not hard to keep up with what is happening. The time jumps give you glimpses into what happened to the kids while they were trying to survive and shows some brutal images bringing parallels to Lord of the Flies. What happened to the kids out in the wilderness? This question is the hook that keeps viewers coming back each time a new episode airs. Additionally, you get to see some of the kids as adults, in present day with an entirely new cast of actors and actresses filling the characters roles. The casting for these characters roles is also impressive for both the kids and adults. Not only are these roles well acted, most of the kids resemble their adult counterparts pretty closely making it much more believable that they are the same character. Yellowjackets airs Sundays on Showtime at 10PM EST and can also be streamed on the Showtime App.
