3 NFT Sites for Beginners: Nerdthusiast Guide to The Marketplace

NFT for Beginners

By Anthony Cicali

Let's start with the basics. What's An NFT ?

According to the Verge, "Non-fungible” more or less means that it’s unique and can’t be replaced with something else. For example, a bitcoin is fungible — trade one for another bitcoin, and you’ll have exactly the same thing. A one-of-a-kind trading card, however, is non-fungible. If you traded it for a different card, you’d have something completely different.

For anyone getting into the NFT world it can be confusing. At Nerdthusiast we have created a list of some beginner NFT sites that will help you dive into the online virtual marketplace.

DraftKings NFT Marketplace

Sports collectibles have always been a hot item, it was only a matter of time before they jumped into the NFT Universe.

The online sports betting / daily fantasy site has dove into the world of NFTs. This past year they began by offering such NFTs as Tom Brady, Wayne Gretzky and Tony Hawk. These collectibles drop weekly on their NFT Marketplace site.

The cost varies for these collectibles. You must first enter a "drop". A drop is a random assignment of who can win an NFT. If you win one, you purchase it and add it to your collection.

DraftKings also allows you to then resell the NFT on their Marketplace. To buy and sell NFT's a person must use real funds they load in their account.

VEVE Marketplace

Veve is the go to place for main stream NFT collectibles such as Disney and Marvel items. The site allows you to buy and sell NFTs directly on their site. A key highlight is their drops on classic Marvel Comic books.

Veve generally has a " drop " every day around 11AM EST. If someone is lucky enough to get an NFT from Veve they generally will be able to flip this item for a quick turnaround on their market place.

The online marketplace attracts a lot of people because of it's high end name brand NFTS, but has some issues that are worth pointing out.

The site does not currently allow withdrawals, but the company says this will be allowed in the future. Also you can not pre fund a drop, a person must be there at the time of the drop. This has caused issues with bots being able to scoop premium drops before most humans can.

Veve appears to be working on some of the issues mentioned.

Theta Drops

We originally found theta because of their access to World Poker Tour player card drops. Since then this site has been growing quickly in popularity.

The site allows to use Theta coins or USD for buying and selling NFTs. Theta drops generally atleast once a week and includes high end deals such as the recent Katie Perry drop. Most items can be prefunded, which means you can load the account and not have to be there the moment the NFT drops on the platform.

The latest big drops have come with Secret Pineapple Society drops. The original prices were around $200 and these pieces of digital fruit are cashing in for upto $58,000!
